Central York School District invites parents and guardians of students to review our required Annual Notices for Parents/Guardians. Please do not hesitate to contact your school principal with any questions or concerns about the information contained in these notices.

Students may be excused from school in the event of illness, death in the immediate family, quarantine, or exceptional reasons determined to be urgent by the school authorities in accordance with school law. Please see Board Policy 204 for more information on what constitutes an excused absence.

Parents/guardians should use the Skyward Family Access Center to enter attendance/absence information for students. This is web-based and available 24 hours a day.

Attendance Information

During the school year, families will receive weekly news from the District and their child's school building. Please be sure that your contact information including email addresses is up-to-date in Skyward to ensure you are receiving all District communications. Newsletters are also available on our website. 

Families may also receive periodic emails and updates via Skyward regarding important updates and information. Those will be sent via email and also available to view in Skyward.

Communications

All District-issued student devices are covered by AppleCare, which provides support and coverage for certain types of accidental damage. However, families are responsible for the cost of any repairs or replacements after two incidents of accidental damage. We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid unnecessary charges.

Device Care

• All medications should be given at home, if possible. 

• Medication MUST be brought to school by a parent or guardian. 

• District policy requires a doctor's order for both prescription and over-the-counter medications (including herbal remedies).
• In addition to a physician order, per District policy, written permission from the parent or guardian must be submitted to the school nurse for the administration of all medications (this includes oral, topical, and inhaled forms of medication during school hours.)
• All medications must be brought to school in the ORIGINAL container.

Cough Drops
All cough drops sent to school MUST be in the ORIGINAL bag with a note from the parent. Cough syrups, dissolving strips, lollypops, and Vitamin C drops are NOT to be sent to school with students.

Returning students' schedules were made available in Skyward last May. New Kindergarten students will receive a letter in the mail in August with information regarding their Kindergarten teacher and orientation.

If you have any questions regarding registration, please reach out to our District Registrar or our building principal.

Central York School District will provide all of the necessary supplies (with the exception of a backpack) for your child in grades K-6, therefore no school supply lists will be sent home from the District.

Students in grades 7-12 may receive a specific supply list from their teachers during the first week of school. 

The purpose of the Student Handbook is to provide students and families with important information relevant to school policies and procedures, along with other useful information that will help students and families make the most of their educational experience in Central York School District.
