Core Literacy Skills: Sixth-grade students read complex literary and informational texts with increasing independence. Writing expectations include well-organized narratives, explanations, and arguments that use evidence, clear reasoning, and appropriate conventions. Students participate in academic discussions, ask clarifying questions, and present ideas clearly across content areas.

Core Math Skills: Learners develop understanding of ratios, rates, and proportional reasoning, operate fluently with integers and rational numbers, fractions and decimals, and work with expressions and equations.
