Robots! 

Have you every programmed a robot before? We have! We programmed Dash the robot! 

Our class broke up into programming teams. There were three in a team. The leader of the team got the iPad. One team member got the robot. The third team member wrote down the new stuff we learned with the robots. Everybody took turns programming.

We used Blocky to control Dash. We started with Driving School. That’s the first part of the Blockly app. This is where we learned how to move the robot and have Dash make sounds. We learned how to program knock knock jokes!

There was another challenge, but we figured it out. We all helped each other because it’s okay to help people and get better at stuff.  We helped each other debug the program! We are thankful to have a team to work with us when we needed help. 

It was really cool when Dash’s lights changed. We programmed its lights to change patterns. Programming Dash to talk and tell jokes was difficult, but exciting. We programmed Dash to turn to look at the person who said, Tell me a joke. That was pretty awesome. 

We are hoping to program Dot next. We haven’t programmed that robot yet.
