Hayshire Happenings: Reading About How Food Is Made 🍅

child reading

We are learning about how people make food. We read a big book called How Food Is Made. We learned learned where food comes from. It comes from plants. For example, tomato sauce and catsup come from tomatoes. Tomatoes grow on a plant.

Today we learned how breakfast was made. We read a story about it. It was a true story. This means it gives us real information, and it means that it’s true. It had real-life pictures with captions. Captions give extra information.

We learned about orange juice. Orange juice comes from oranges. The oranges get squeezed in the plant. Some people call the plant a factory. The juice goes into a bottle. You find it at the store.

Jam is a breakfast food you put on toast. Jam comes from grapes. They pull grapes off of vines, and they mush them. They do this at the plant. The jam goes into a bottle, and then it gets transported to the store.

We learned a lot! Now we are writing about how food is made. We are writing about how bread is made. Did you know that bread is made with wheat that gets crushed into flour?
