Hayshire Happenings: Celebrating National Principals' Day During Morning Meeting
Every day we have Morning Meeting. We sit in a circle on the carpet. When we sit on the carpet we start with a greetings. Today we did the flower greeting. Everybody’s name is on a flower. The flowers are in a bucket. If Miss Garrett gives you the bucket, you pick a flower and read the name on the flower. Everybody says good morning to that friend and then that friend says Good Morning back.
After the greeting we share. Today we shared the thing we like about spring. It’s getting hot outside. Ariana likes when Miss Garrett sprays us with a spray bottle when we come in from recess. Kayden likes that spring is almost summer. He is going to get money to go to the airport and fly to Puerto Rico. Noah likes that the butterflies are coming back. We have caterpillars in our classroom. They will turn into butterflies.
Today’s activity was special. We celebrated Mrs. Thomas because it is National Principals’ Day. We gave her a fake flower with writing on the flower. Kayden wrote, You bloom with kindness because you cheer kids up. Noah wrote, You bloom with kindness because you’re nice and kind. Everybody loves you. Ariana wrote, You bloom with kindness because you cheer kids up when they’re feeling bad. Mrs. Thomas thought this was sweet. She cried a little. She cried happy tears. Noah had happy tears too.
The last we do is write the message with Miss Garrett. We help her with the message by sounding out the words so Miss Garrett can know. We help her spell the words to write the message. When she makes mistakes, we help her and say the mistakes that she made and then she fixes them.
Kayden feels happy during Morning Meeting. Ariana feels excited and Noah feels joyful about Morning Meeting.
