Hayshire Happenings: Being Great Readers π
Being a reader is important. When you grow into an adult, you have to read checks and other stuff. Nonfiction books can give you information.
Good readers stay concentrated on the words. They use their finger to track where they are. Slide your finger across the page to make the pace faster.
Good readers read fluently. Reading fluently means reading at a good pace, not too fast and not too slow.
Good readers also read accurately. Getting the words right is important. Reading accurately helps you understand.
We practice reading at Hayshire. We read a passage several times to practice reading fluently and accurately. We read at home for fifteen or more minutes.
We feel good when we read a lot of words. Third graders read 118 or more words correct in one minute at the end of the year.
Reading is serious business, especially during Acadience!
