Marketing Students Collaborate with Non-Profit for Fundraising Gala

This semester, students in Ms. Darr’s Marketing class took their learning beyond the classroom and into the community through a meaningful partnership with a local non-profit.

Working alongside Central York alumni and Shine Music Foundation Director Peter Bottros, they helped plan, organize, and promote the very first “Born to Shine” Fundraising Gala! They gained hands-on experience securing sponsors, creating raffle items, designing flyers, selling tickets, and supporting event logistics. Along the way, the class connected with various business and community leaders to learn about different careers and receive feedback on their work.

The Shine Music Foundation, based in Downtown York, aims to provide access to music education for all, regardless of income. Our Panthers brought the experience full circle, surprising Mr. Bottros with a $1,500 donation to his organization.
