A message from the school board
superintendent/assistant superintendent selection process

Dear Central York School District Parents & Guardians,

I am writing to share with you information on behalf of the Central York School Board regarding our plans to appoint a new Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.

Following the announcements that Dr. Snell and Mr. Grove plan to retire later this year, the School Board met in an Executive Session to discuss a leadership transition plan and the process of selecting and appointing new leaders to these critical positions in a timely, transparent, and comprehensive manner.

The Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent positions are the top two leadership positions of a school district. The Superintendent serves as a Chief Executive Officer and is charged with implementing policies, creating programs, managing resources and spending, and building relationships among all stakeholders, including the Board, administration, school leaders, faculty, staff, students, families and the community. Both positions report to the School Board.

With the pending retirements of our top two administrative leaders, we understand the importance of a timely and smooth transition. It is our goal to seek input from all stakeholders, so that we can make informed decisions that consider the prospective candidates from all perspectives.

In the coming weeks, we will share detailed information about the application, selection and appointment process in a direct communication to you. This will also be made public on our website and will be shared with all stakeholders.

There will be opportunities for you to review candidate profiles, view public candidate interviews, and learn more about the next steps and timeline for the entire process.

If there are any questions or concerns about this process, or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact me.
