Clearances and Volunteer Application

Obtaining Clearances

All prospective employees, interns, student teachers, and outside agencies doing work in Central York School District must obtain a Child Abuse Clearance ($13.00), a Pennsylvania Criminal Clearance ($22.00), and an FBI Federal Criminal History Clearance (fingerprint background check) ($26.20) prior to working in the District. As of January 1, 2015, everyone must obtain new clearances every five years.

Following are the instructions for obtaining the three required clearances:

Volunteer Update: Information regarding volunteer applications will be shared soon. Applications for the 2024/2025 school year will be available the week of July 8, 2024. 

Athletic Volunteers

  • All Athletic Volunteers will require School Board approval before serving as a volunteer for a sport.  If you wish to serve as an Athletic Volunteer, please contact our Athletic Director, Dan Hagerman, to begin the Athletic Volunteer registration process.
  • All volunteers who serve more than ten (10) hours per week will undergo a tuberculosis examination in accordance with the regulations of the Pennsylvania Department of Health upon being placed on the volunteer list. (See board policy 916 for more information).

All volunteers must: 

  • Check-in at a school’s main office prior to each volunteer visit.

  • Wear their volunteer badge clearly displayed on their person while volunteering.

  • Volunteer status is good only for the current school year.  You must re-register as a volunteer each school year.
