Communities that Care
A community-wide approach to promoting the healthy development of young people.
Central York Communities that Care is a local non-profit organization that exists to help support the youth and families of the Central York community through programs and initiatives that support protective factors and risk factors. Every two years, students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 may participate in the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS). This report highlights the risk factors in the community for students, such as drug use, mental health, and bullying, as well as protective factors, such as attachment to school, pro-social community involvement, etc.
CYCTC uses that data to offer programs and initiatives that support the protective factors and help mitigate the risk factors. That may be through parenting workshops, community events such as the Spirit of Youth Awards, mental health programs or other educational initiatives.
