Message Regarding Act 66

On June 30, 2021, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf signed Senate Bill 664, now Act 66 of 2021, which allows parents and students new, temporary options for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education during the 2020-2021 school year.

These options include the following:

*Special education students age 21 during the 2020-2021 school year OR who turned 21 years old between the 2020-2021 school year and the start of the 2021-2022 school year have the opportunity to extend their public school education through the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

*Parents/guardians may choose to have their school-aged child or children repeat a grade level during the 2021-2022 school year in an effort to make up for any lost educational opportunities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, even if the student met the requirements to be promoted to the next grade level.

If a parent/guardian is interested in either of these opportunities provided by Act 66 of 2021, they must complete an Act 66 Election Form provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and return it to your child’s school office by July 15, 2021. Forms may be dropped off in person or mailed to the address, above, by July 15.

Please visit the PA Department of Education website for more information on Act 66 and to download an Election Form: PA Department of Education Act 66 Website
