North Hills Band

The Central York Intermediate Band program is a highly successful and widely respected initiative that provides young musicians with a strong foundation in instrumental music. Designed to introduce students to the world of music, the program offers a unique opportunity for children to explore and master a new instrument.
Our comprehensive instrumental curriculum features small-group instruction in the first year in the program where the focus is on the basics of tone production and music reading. In following years, students rehearse and perform as a full band, learning the important skills needed to play together.
Whether a student chooses the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, horn, tuba or percussion, they are given the tools and support to develop fundamental musical skills in a structured yet inspiring and fun environment.
Parents, teachers, and peers are regularly treated to inspiring concerts that highlight the hard work and talent of these young musicians, making the Central York Beginning Band program a valued part of the school district’s educational offerings.
Grades 5 and 6
Band registration is available starting at the beginning of 5th grade, but it is never too late to join the band! Recruiting and enrollment assemblies, information and registration forms will be provided to 5th grade students within the first weeks of school. These materials are available year-round for all 5th and 6th grade students by contacting Dr. Moyer at jmoyer@cysd.k12.pa.us.
