Diversity Awareness and Education Program
The
Central York School District population includes a growing diversity of
economic, racial, religious, social, ethnic and handicapped
populations. Central York School District has developed a Diversity
Education Program that is focused on the following:
- Creating a cohesive community within the school.
- Raising
the consciousness of students, parents, educators, administrators, and
the community about the increasing diversity of the student body and
what this means in terms of the social and academic needs and challenges
in the district.
- Creating
a means of assessing how these changes impact the social and academic
obligations that have been placed upon the district.
The
mission of the Diversity Education Committee is to eliminate the
achievement gap through curriculum, staff development, co-curricular
activities, home & community connections and minority recruitment.
