Gold Award at BODCYHS Student Collects School Supplies for Pantry for Gold Award Project

Central York High School student Mary Beth Ryer recently attended a School Board meeting to share with the Board and public her ongoing efforts to support the district's Panther Pantry as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

Mary Beth led a district-wide effort to collect school supplies for families served by the Panther Pantry, a food and household item bank for district families in need.  She created flyers and an advertising plan to have district principals encourage families who attended "Back to School Nights" throughout the K-12 schools to bring school supplies and backpacks for others in need. Mary Beth placed bins at each school where families could donate supplies and backpacks.

Mary Beth has volunteered at the Panther Pantry for the past six years and is mentoring other Girl Scouts who are helping her with this project. She recently was honored with a Central York Communities That Care "Spirit of Youth" award for her efforts.

We are #CYSDProud of Mary Beth for her ongoing support of the Panther Pantry and families in need.
