CTC SKATING NIGHT - "PACK THE PLACE"!
|
![]() "Measurement Moments and Milestones" program is now underway! In an effort to help students truly comprehend and be able to apply measurement concepts to everyday life, we are highlighting a measurement "moment" each day, and also incorporating some cumulative "milestone" reviews along the way. Thanks to the coordination of our Math Coach, Mrs. Peggy Carnahan, every day our students participate in some type of practical measurement experience, drawn from our math curriculum. So far, the focus has been on customary and metric linear units. Then, we will move on to capacity, weight, mass, and time. Similar to our "Fact of the Day" program that was held during the first part of this year to promote fluency in recall of math facts, this "Measurement Moments and Milestones" program has been designed to provide a daily emphasis and repeated practice in order to help students solidify their math comprehension and application of the various units of measurement. Ask your child about the tip he/she has learned each day! |
Olympics coming to SSE! On February 17th, your children will participate in the opening ceremonies for our very own Sinking Springs Olympics! Mr. Wisler and Miss Slonaker are using the theme of the upcoming Winter Olympics to generate some new excitement in their phys. ed. classes. Our students will participate in a "torch" lighting, learn about the meaning of the Olympic Rings, and take the Olympic oath in preparation our own Olympic events that will be held as part of the regularly scheduled phys. ed. classes in the coming weeks. Ask your child for additional details as the time draws near!
