Welcome to Stony Brook

Stony Brook Elementary School is a warm environment where each child is treated as an individual capable of learning. The staff operates using developmentally appropriate practices and utilizes child-oriented programs, whereby students' progress is continual and monitored closely.  Teachers take great pride in providing experiences to ensure that ALL students achieve the district standards found in the curriculum. Teachers, parents, and school personnel work as a team to ensure a safe and nurturing educational environment. We look forward to working with you this school year!

Security Enhancements for 2013-2014

Central York School District considers the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff to be of the utmost importance. We strive to create a learning environment that protects the health and safety of ALL of our students and employees.

In a continued effort to proactively safeguard our students, faculty and staff, we have installed a visitor management system called School Gate Guardian. This system will be in use when the 2013-2014 school year begins and will require all visitors to produce valid Photo ID before gaining admittance to a district school or building.

Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation with the District as we implement this system and work to enhance security and safety throughout our schools.

PDE, CYSD Extend Testing Windows for
PSSA Math, Reading & Writing Due to Weather

The annual Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) is a standards based criterion-referenced assessment used to measure a student's attainment of the academic standards while also determining the degree to which school programs enable students to attain proficiency of the standards. The information obtained from these assessments serves as a valuable tool for planning future school programs, developing curriculum and in-service training of teachers, and information the public about student achievement.

Please note: Due to the recent inclement weather and missed school days, the Pennsylvania Department of Education has granted school districts throughout Pennsylvania the opportunity to extend the testing windows for Math, Reading & Writing PSSAs.
