Phone Notification System - Important Update

Our automated voice messaging provider has been purchased by a new company and we are in the process of transferring all of our contact information to the new system. We will be notifying all parents/guardians, faculty & staff of this change tonight via our existing system. We will be testing the new system on Sunday, October 26, with another call to all district parents, guardians, faculty and staff.

If you do not receive the call Sunday evening, or if you receive the call at more phone numbers than you prefer, please contact us Monday, October 27, to ensure we have your correct information on file.

You may call 846-6789, ext. 1299 with this information. We will need your student or students' names, schools, your name and your preferred phone number or numbers. You may also email this information to us by clicking the following link: Phone Notification System Update.

Thank you for your patience as we test our new system. We appreciate your help with ensuring we know the best way to reach you in case of a weather cancellation or emergency situation.

 Welcome to Mr. Scott Billig!

Mr. Billig joins the Sinking Springs family as the new assistant principal. He replaces Mrs. Grondin who will be the new principal of Stony Brook Elementary. Mr. Billig has taught 6th grade at North Hills for the past eight years. Make sure you introduce yourself to Mr. Billig as he begins the task of learing about all the students, staff, and families of Sinking Springs. Welcome Mr. Billig!!

Spirit Wear
Central York spirit wear is now on sale.  There are many new items available with Central logos as well as a few Sinking Springs items. The spirit wear order forms are included below. Please print out the order form and return to the school by  October 10th.  Sample items and sizes are available for viewing in the office. Our vendor this year is Athletic Lettering and all checks should be made out to them. 

Spirit of Youth Awards

On Saturday, September 27, the annual Communities that Care Spirit of Youth Awards breakfast was held at Springettsbury Park. Three Sinking Springs staff members and a former student were honored for their contributions to the Central community! Thanks for all your hard work!Recipients: Blake Collingsworth, Mrs. Beck, Mrs. Grondin, Mrs. Fyer 

PTO Fundraiser

Your child will be brining home their PTO fundraiser packet this week. The fundaiser goes from October 1 thorugh October 14. Students are selling Gertrude Hawk products available from a catalog included in your packet. Students can earn prizes based on the value of products sold. 

Students are also selling Kidstuff books for $25. A book has been sent home to purchase. If you do not want to purchase the book, please return the book to school with the student label left on the bag. There is an order form to sell additional books. If your child sells 5 books, they will receive a free book. Thanks for helping to support the PTO. 

Look how the Sinking Springs Staff ended their first day!

The Sinking Springs staff cooled off at the end of our first day by participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge. The staff donated money as part of the challenge to go to the Panther Pantry which will benefit our Central York families. They challenged the Central York Elementary schools, Central York administrators, and a wonderful friend, Charlet Miller, former principal of Sinking Springs Elementary to the Ice Bucket Challenge.

PTO News 

Join the Sinking Springs PTO for their next meeting of the year, Tuesday, October 7 at 9:30 am  in the Sinking Springs faculty room. Join us to hear what the PTO has in store for our learners and our families this school year. 

The PTO is still accepting volunteer forms to assist on committees or to become a head room parent.  Additional forms can be obtained from the office.
Student Directory
If you would like to be included in this year's student directory, please provide your information on the computers provided at back to school night or use the link on the school web page.  All directory submissions must be received by September 30th to be included in the directory.
The Sinking Springs fundraiser will officially kick off on October 1st and will end on October 13th.  The fundraiser will be Kid Stuff books and Gertrude Hawk chocolates.  All money for orders should be collected immediately and checks should be made out to the Sinking Springs PTO.  The Gertrude Hawk orders will come in the week prior to Thanksgiving and pick-up will be during parent conferences that week. 

Security Enhancements for 2014-2015
Central York School District considers the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff to be of the utmost importance. We strive to create a learning environment that protects the health and safety of ALL of our students and employees. 

This year when you enter Sinking Springs you will be greeted by one of our staff members on the right side of the lobby at a new window area.  They will assist you in picking up your child, dropping off your child or any items you may be bringing to school for your child. If you are dropping off or picking up items or students, the lobby will be the area of the school to complete these tasks.

To help out our office staff, labeling the item you are dropping off with your child's name will be very helpful. We will also have supplies in the drop off area to help with labeling any items.  

Those who are meeting with staff members, volunteering, or completing paperwork will proceed ino the office area.

Any adult entering the building will be signed into our School Gate Guardian system to allow us to keep an accurate log of who enters the buidlng each day. Please bring your driver's license with you the first time you enter the building, if you were not logged into our system last year. If you do not have your driver's license, our office staff will ask you for basic information to record in the system, and take a picture of you for our system.
