Dear Roundtown Families,
This time of year is always a hectic, yet special time for us at the school. Teachers are working to capitalize on student interest and excitement in learning to afford as many opportunities for success as possible. As we approach the 1/3 mark of the school year, we pause to give thanks as a community and also pause to share with you all the amazing things your child has achieved to this point in the school year. Parent-teacher conferences provide a time to meet with the teacher to get a sense of how your child is doing socially, emotionally, and academically. While the conference times are brief to allow for all families to participate, we want you to play an active role in the conversation. We care about our families and care about the hopes and dreams you have for your child. Many parents wonder, "Should I ask many questions or just listen?" Your feedback and input are critical in the process of allowing your child to reach his/her full potential. Please feel free to ask questions to clarify points about your child's behavior, work habits, academics, and social skills. Teachers will be sharing a global information sheet with you that you may take. This sheet is by no means a report card, but more of a simple update for you to take with you. If for some reason you have more questions or desire more time to discuss progress with your child's teacher, please do not hesitate to ask for another conference after Thanksgiving. We are happy to meet with parents to discuss progress at any time during the school year! Of course, I am also here to assist you in any way on this journey your child is on. If you have questions about our school, curriculum, mission, etc. please do not hesitate to contact me! The entire school wishes you a wonderful and safe season of giving thanks. We are thankful for our Roundtown Students and Families!
The Giving Tree is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. Select an apple.
Apples will be on the Giving Tree in the school lobby beginning Friday, November 7.
Apples list gift ideas for each child (age and gender also included).
Stop by the school to select an apple any time throughout the month of November
Don't have an opportunity to get to school to select an apple?
Pick one from the comfort of your own home online via Google Spreadsheet.

2. Purchase and prepare gifts.
Purchase each item requested on the apple.
· Follow instructions on the apple regarding whether to wrap the gift or leave them unwrapped.
Attach the apple to the gift (if you chose a child online, label gift with required information). If providing more than one package for a child, label each with all information from the original apple to ensure that the additional gift(s) gets to the right child.
3. Deliver gifts to the school.
Gifts must be dropped off in the school lobby between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m. on the following dates:
o Monday, December 8
o Tuesday, December 9
To ensure that each child receives a gift, it is extremely important to have your gift in on-time.
Roundtown's Giving Tree supports the following agencies:
Children and Youth Services, County of York - CYS is currently providing services for approximately 2000 York County children (0-21 yrs.) to protect them from further abuse or neglect. Federal and State funding prohibits using funds for holiday gifts. CYS relies on the generosity of the community to help them provide a happy holiday season for all children.
Bell Family Shelter - Bell Family Shelter and Bell Bridge Housing provide housing support for homeless families of York. Bell Family Shelter remains York's only 30-day emergency family shelter. The 11 room shelter houses as many as forty people per night (about half of whom are under the age of 12). The Bell Bridge Housing program provides temporary housing transition for up to one year through 2 single room units at the shelter and 8 additional apartments in York.
