Security Enhancements for
2013-2014 School Year
Central York School District considers the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff to be of the utmost importance. We strive to create a learning environment that protects the health and safety of ALL of our students and employees.
In a continued effort to proactively safeguard our students, faculty and staff, we have installed a visitor management system called School Gate Guardian. This system will be in use when the 2013-2014 school year begins, and will require all visitors to produce valid Photo ID before gaining admittance to a district school or building.
How it works: When visitors enter any school or office building, they will be asked to produce a state-issued ID card to a CYSD staff member, who will scan the card through the card reader. The information will be run through the sexual offender database and the district-maintained database. If no matches are found, the staff member will print a self-expiring visitor's badge with name, photo, reason for and location of visit. The badge expires within 12 hours of printing.
Thank you, in advance, for your cooperation with these safety/security measures. We believe this visitor management system will enable us to consistently and actively track visitors to our facilities and manage visitors more effectively.
LABELS FOR EDUCATION AND BOX TOPS
At the end of last year, it was decided that we are no longer printing hard copies of collection sheets for Labels for Education and/or Box Tops. This year, we are going green. We are providing the website addresses for both programs so that parents can print sheets at home. A stack of collection sheets will be available in the main office for those families who are unable to print at home.
