A Message From Dr. Snell Regarding Social Media Posts

On Thursday evening, our administration was made aware of an account created on Instagram using “Central York” as its name and sharing content that included racist comments and hate speech. We are also aware that posts/videos containing racist content/hate speech have been shared between students on their own social media accounts.

We reported the account and all of its content to Instagram and also to local law enforcement officials.

Our administrative team has also been investigating this issue, along with reports that some of our students have been targeted with hateful and racist messages this week.

While this investigation continues, please be assured of the following:
  • Central York School District has NO tolerance for hate speech or discrimination. We are working with families to ensure that each report is investigated. Our schools should be a safe space for ALL students, and we want to ensure that ALL students feel safe and supported in our District.

  • We will continue investigating this issue and appreciate the support of those families who have come to our administration to share concerns so that we may address them.

  • We will continue working to make our district and schools safe for ALL We will continue communicating that hate has NO place in our classrooms, schools or District.
We encourage you to contact your principal or an administrator with any concerns related to this issue or any issue  related to your child’s safety.

Thank you.
Michael S. Snell, Ed.D.
